Frequently asked questions

The ocean can be a scary place. Let me ease those fears.

What is an Owner Assist?

Ready to move your boat but would like a little help from a Captain too?  I'm happy to help and use this time to work with you on docking, anchoring, provisioning, systems, and route planning.

Where are my favorite places to sail?

Key West certainly has its charm and is great to stop for a few days. Exumas, Bahamas is on the top of my list for winter sailing. It has beautiful beaches, fishing, snorkeling, and is close to so many islands. During the summer, let's go to Maine. Maine has a cool breeze with the Thousand Islands outside Portland. And farther north, Belfast and Acadia National Park have many anchorages, islands, and Harbour lighthouses to see.  AND, whale sightings are quite exciting.

What is a catamaran?

A catamaran is a boat with two hulls. In my case, it's a beautiful sailboat named Lovenest!

Can the owner or guest some on a delivery?

Absolutely! It is lots of fun and you will learn a lot too.

What does a Yacht delivery cost?

Typically there is a cost to get the Captain and Crew to and from their current port. The delivery runs $850 per day for the Captain and Crew plus expenses.

Yacht Deliveries

Sometimes you just want your boat moved from here to there. You do not need to attend or participate in the journey. I'll fly to your boat and delivery it anywhere.

How does a Yacht delivery actually work?

When, for example, a customer calls with a boat in Maine and wants to have it brought to Florida, I get the information about the boat and we discuss the estimated time and cost.  When we agree, the customer pays 1/2 down. The crew and I fly in, check out the boat, purchase food, fuel, etc., and then set sail for Florida.  Once the boat is at its destination, we receive final payment, and then we are off to another delivery.
